4 Adorable Holiday Hairstyles for Curly Hair to Try Now

Hello my curly beauties! It’s the most wonderful time of the year…time for parties, family, ALLLLLL the yummy food, and celebrating Jesus’ birth! I love dressing up and getting to put a little extra sparkle on, and the holidays are the perfect excuse to do that. I’ve collected some of my favourite holiday hairstyles for curly hair to help you look gorgeous this season.

Keep reading for 4 easy holiday hairstyles for curly hair.

1. Barbie Ponytail

This vintage-inspired hairstyle looks beautiful on almost anyone! And I think it looks especially good on curly girls, because they already have lots of volume and texture. Here’s how to achieve this easy holiday hairstyle for curly girls.

  • Section off the crown section of your hair and secure it with a tiny jaw clip (or bobby pins) at the back of your head.
  • Flip your head upside down, and gently gather your hair into a ponytail with a hair tie.
  • Pull apart the top section of your hair for a textured look. Volume is the goal here- the bigger, the better!

*If you want a more casual look, use a scrunchie instead of a hair tie.

2. Sideswept + Pearl Clips

If you want a gorgeous holiday hairstyle in 30 seconds flat, this is it! This hairstyle is popular for formal occasions, but you can also wear it to holiday events for a little extra glamour.

  • Create a very deep side part. Fluff at the roots for extra volume.
  • Use 2-4 pearl clips (these ones are so pretty) to clip the opposite side of your hair behind your ear. This side should be fairly flat against your head.
  • Leave the rest of your curls free and bouncy on the other side.
  • If they look limp, do a quick refresh (check out my tips for refreshing here).

3. Side Braided Ponytail

If I’m having a bad hair day, this hairstyle is a LIFESAVER. It’s easy, quick, and great for camouflaging messy curls and oily roots. It also looks adorable! Here’s how to do it on your hair:

  • Create a deep side part in your hair.
  • Section off an inch-wide section of your hair on the opposite side of your deep side part. So, if your hair is deeply parted toward the right, take a section from the left side.
  • Braid that section toward the back of your head, adding hair into the middle piece of the braid until you get to the back of your head. Then, keep braiding but don’t add any new hair. Clip this braid up for later use.
  • On the side of your deep part, separate an inch-wide section and braid it towards the back of your head. The bigger and chunkier this braid is, the better! (My braid here isn’t very big, but I was in a hurry!)
  • Pancake your braids, just like this…
  • Pull both braids together into a side ponytail. I usually aim to have the hair tie just below my ear.
  • Next, create some volume by gently tugging at the roots of your hair in the back. If the side opposite your deep side part looks flat, gently pull it out a bit, too.
  • For extra sparkle, add a jeweled or pearl clip behind your ear on the side opposite your deep side part.

4. Headband + Curls

Yes, this holiday hairstyle for curly hair is as easy as it sounds! I’ve been loving these pearl headbands from Amazon ever since I received them in the fall. They’re easy to wear, and I’ve gotten so many compliments on them!

  • If you have naturally curly or wavy hair, skip to step 2. Otherwise, I recommend using a curling iron to create some waves.
  • Part your hair in a flattering way- whether that is a side part OR straight down the middle.
  • Using your fingers, gently separate the front section of your hair from the back, dividing right behind the ears.
  • Gently wiggle the headband onto your head. (You curly girls will understand this!)
  • Fluff at the roots for volume, and you’re done!

  1. I need someone to come over and do my hair for all the holiday festivities! lol My hair is very basic and I know how to do hardly anything with it lol I don’t have curly hair, but I’m loving the look with the clips. I’ve been seeing SO many people do that on Instagram! I thought it was tacky at first, but the more and more I see it, I’m getting more used to it. Plus, I’ve seen it done very tastefully, as you just did it! I really like it 🙂
