Hello, my curly friends! Today, I’m happy to share one of my new favourites…the Jessicurl Deep Conditioning Treatment! This product has been on my wishlist for a while. So I jumped at the chance to do a review on it! A curly girl can always use a good deep conditioner for curly hair. What are the ingredients in this deep conditioner for curly hair?
This deep conditioner comes in either Island Fantasy, Citrus Lavender, or No Scent. I chose the Island Fantasy scent, which contains the following ingredients.
Aqua (Water), Cetearyl Alcohol, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice Powder, Equisetum Arvense (Horsetail) Extract, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Laurus Nobilis (Bay Laurel) Leaf Extract, Ocimum Basilicum (Basil) Leaf Extract, Urtica Dioica (Nettle) Leaf Extract, Arctium Lappa (Burdock) Root Extract, Althea Officinalis (Marshmallow) Root Extract, Origanum Vulgare (Oregano) Leaf Extract, Cymbopogon Flexuosus (Lemongrass) Extract, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Leaf Extract, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract, Parfum (Fragrance), Lecithin, Cinnamal, Citral, Coumarin, Eugenol, Geraniol, Citronellol, Limonene, Linalool, Benzoic Acid, Dehydroacetic Acid, Phenoxyethanol
CG Friendly: Yes
Texture: Thick and creamy
Smell: Mild and pleasant, with floral notes (Island Fantasy)
Packaging: Plastic tube
What I love about the Jessicurl Deep Conditioning Treatment:
- Ingredient List: It’s packed with shea butter, avocado oil, and cocoa butter, and lots of botanical extracts. These include aloe vera (known for its moisturizing properties), rosemary and basil (stimulate hair growth), bay laurel (astringent which prevents hair loss), and many more.
- Softer Hair: It makes my curls soft, well hydrated, and touchable.
- Protein Free: It’s especially good for protein sensitive curly girls.
- Delicate Scent: It’s not overpowering, just pleasantly feminine.
How do you apply deep conditioner to curly hair?
Some deep conditioners should be applied before shampooing your hair. But this Jessicurl deep treatment is designed to be applied after cleansing your hair, instead of a regular conditioner.
Because this deep conditioner is concentrated, you may want to dilute it with water before application. This is especially true if you have fine, wavy hair.
First, apply this deep treatment to clean, wet hair. Comb it through with your fingers or a wet brush. This doesn’t have a lot of slip, so be gentle. Then, allow it to sit on your hair for 30-60 minutes. For best results, use a hooded dryer or dryer with diffuser to add heat. Rinse and style with your usual products.
Pro Tip:
If you have long, curly hair, wrap your curls up in a swim cap. This helps trap heat and avoids dripping all over your clothes!

What hair types does this deep conditioning treatment work best for?
According to an article by Diane Mary at Naturally Curly, “This kind of treatment is ideal for any hair type, as there are so many out there now to cater to different hair sensitivities, porosities and curl types.” She recommends three different deep conditioners, including this Jessicurl one.
If your hair is sensitive to protein overload, you’ll be happy to learn that this deep conditioner for curly hair is protein-free. It’s designed to add moisture without weighing your curls down. This deep conditioner doesn’t cause buildup, either. It’s definitely one of the best deep conditioners for curly hair.

Hey Claudine, I have a question. Would this be good to use in addition to the DevaCurl products you sent me??? In the new year I’m really hoping to get my curls 100% CG approved, so I’m hoping to be able to purchase the proper DevaCurl products etc.
Thanks for the helpful review!
Love you bunches!!!!!
Sara
Dear Sara,
Yes, I think it would work well with them. A lot of Deva Curl products that I’ve tried (in particular the Ultra Defining Gel) have a lot of protein. Because this deep treatment doesn’t have any protein, it would balance well with them. You want to avoid overdoing it on either protein or moisture. I hope you enjoy the DevaCurl products!
Love you too!!
♥️ Claudine
