6 Feminine Activities to Try This Summer / Ladies & Lavender

feminine activities

Hello my lovelies! I’m so happy that summer is here at last…it’s my favourite season. For most of us, this summer is going to look a little different than normal. Maybe your Bible camp got cancelled, or your summer vacation plans fell through. Despite all of this, we can still have an awesome summer! In this post, I’ll be sharing 6 feminine activities that you can try this summer. This post is a collaboration with Ladies & Lavender, a Canadian modest boutique that has the CUTEST denim skirts ever. I’m wearing their Charlotte skirt- and it’s definitely one of the most flattering skirts I’ve had in a long time! Keep reading to the end for a special discount code for all their skirts.

Here are 6 feminine activities to try this summer (and details on this darling skirt).

1. Berry Picking

Ever since I was a toddler, I’ve loved berry picking. Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries—none of them would last long if I was there to pick them! If you have berry patches in your own yard or an obliging field, you may be able to pick enough for a strawberry milkshake or just eating by the handful. Or, if you live in an urban area, you can probably visit a U-Pick farm and pick your own. If you pick enough, you’ll be able to make pies, muffins, or even jam! There is something wonderful about picking a ripe berry off the vine, closing your eyes, and savouring every bit of juicy goodness. It’s very satisfying!

2. Stargazing

Another fun (+ free!) feminine activity you should try is stargazing. Several years ago, my family and I were camping in rural Cape Breton. One of us woke up in the wee morning hours and stepped outside. They were so awed at the sight that they woke everyone else up to see. We stepped out of the tent…into a masterpiece. Meteors dashed across the sky, and shooting stars darted back and forth on the broad Milky Way. Stars were strewn across the sky like a huge tapestry of light and darkness. It was such a special experience and one I’ll never forget.

To find your own starry nights, research when the next meteor showers will be. Plan to stay up late, grab a sleeping bag, and head for the nearest lawn or meadow. Happy stargazing!

3. Hiking in the Forest

I love hiking in the forest! (Although I usually wear different footwear than this, haha!) Hiking is such a fun way to exercise because you can enjoy all the beautiful scenery and not even notice all the calories you’re burning! To find hiking trails near you, just search online for “hiking trails near [your hometown].” Or ask a friend for recommendations. You may be surprised at how many beautiful trails are nearby! Unless the trail is very steep or muddy, running shoes will be fine for hiking in the summer. Don’t wear sandals or open-toed shoes as you may get scratches or twist your ankle. Also, don’t forget to wear bug spray and check for ticks when you get home!

4. Hosting a Sundae Party

If you want to invite friends over on a hot day and don’t feel like cooking something elaborate, have a sundae party! Stock up vanilla or chocolate ice cream, sprinkles, cherries, chocolate sauce, and your favourite toppings. Pro Tip: You can buy soft serve ice cream by the liter at Dairy Queen. It’s only about $5 for a whole liter, and SO yummy. If you are using hard ice cream, scoop out round balls of ice cream. Gently roll them in dark cocoa or espresso powder for an extra layer of flavour. You can also make a homemade ganache by melting semisweet chocolate and 35% whipping cream over a double boiler. Miam, miam!

5. Picnicking

If the weather is warm and sunny, you can go on a picnic. The menu can be as simple or as complicated as you want it to be. Start with your mains- delicate little sandwiches, salad, or mini quiches. Add crunch with raw vegetables with dip or potato chips. Don’t forget to pack some soda, lemonade, or sparkling water. For dessert, you could bake a cherry pie (bonus points for you!) or just bring a box of Popsicles. Add napkins, paper plates, and a bright tablecloth, and you’ll be ready for the perfect picnic.

6. Watching classic movies on a rainy day

What’s a girl to do when it’s pouring rain? Put on the kettle for a cup of tea and watch a classic movie, of course! It’s one of the most relaxing feminine activities! I know it can be hard to find a good movie, so here are a few of my favourite suggestions:

Road to Avonlea- Season 1

Anne of Green Gables

Little Women

Don’t forget to pop a bag of popcorn, curl up with a blanket, and enjoy your classic movie!

What I Love About This Skirt

When I first opened this skirt, I was immediately impressed with the quality. The denim is a thick, high quality material with a good amount of stretch for a forgiving fit. When I tried on this skirt, it fit like a dream! Because I have a small waist, I usually have to wear a denim skirt a little lower, on my hips, because it’s too big for my waist. But this skirt actually fits *perfectly* and sits at my natural waist. I’m wearing a size small here, and you can check the exact measurements on the website to find the best fit.

This skirt has a flattering A-line cut which would look great on any figure. It even has strategically placed shading on the front and back. The skirt has adorable gold buttons on the front which dress it up a bit. It’s super comfortable, too! I think this denim skirt is going to be a new classic in my wardrobe. It’s definitely my new favourite!

If you’re in Canada, this boutique is located in Saskatchewan and has very affordable shipping through Canada Post. #winwin

Here are some of my top picks from the Ladies & Lavender website.
